Date: 14 Mar 2012 From: jyrki@diku.dk Subject: Informal presentation: CS Unplugged Informal presentation: Computer Science Unplugged: Examples, Experiences, and Reflections Speaker: Bengt Aspvall Time: Tuesday, 20 March 2012 at 14.05–15.00 Place: Meeting room 3-1-25 (Universitetsparken 1) Abstract: In this interactive presentation I will illustrate some Computer Science (CS) Unplugged activities. Also, I will report how these activities have been received by various audiences in different contexts in different countries. We regularly use CS Unplugged activities for, and with, young people at study visits, schools, and science centres. We have also used them successfully in connection with our "laboratory mathematics" course targeted for teachers and teacher students from the Royal Institute of Technology and Linnĉus Universiy. Moreover, I will tell about the recources set for this project and my six-year collaboration with Tim Bell, the primus motor of the CS Unplugged project from the University of Canterbury. Hopefully, it will also be possible to hear comments on the participants' own experience. Bengt's home page: http://www.ide.se/~bia/ PE-lab's home page: http://www.diku.dk/~jyrki/PE-lab/
