Abstract:

Data Mining leads a varied existence as a rather vague industry
buzzword, as a thriving field of academic study, but also as a broad
selection of techniques employed by companies to unearth patterns in
large volumes of data, with the purpose of answering business questions.

We will cover the following in the talk:

-- A workable definition of the term "Data Mining" as actually employed
in the industry.

-- A broad selection of the more common means of analysis that have
found their way to actual use in industrial Data Mining.

The intended audience is the participants in the course
"Dat2V-databaser", but all attendees are welcome.
