Summer School on Hashing: Theory and Applications, 2014 – University of Copenhagen

EADS Summer School on

Hashing: Theory and Applications

July 14-17, 2014, University of Copenhagen, Denmark

OVERVIEW AND GOAL

Hashing is used everywhere in computing and is getting increasingly important with the exploding amount of data. The summer school will provide an in-depth introduction to hashing, both theory and applications. The topics range will from modern theory of hashing, to actual implementations of hash functions that are both efficient and provide the necessary probabilistic guarantees. Application areas will be studied, from sketching and data bases, to similarity estimation, and machine learning.

The school is targeted at graduate students (PhD and advanced Master's students), as well as researchers interested in hashing.

The school is sponsored by Center for Efficient Algorithms and Data Structures (EADS) . Registration is free; handouts, coffee breaks, and a conference dinner wil be provided. Student dinning hall offers cheap lunches.

LECTURERS

The school will be taught by experts in diverse aspects of hashing:

PARTICIPATION

The summer school will take place on July 14-17, 2014 at the H. C. Ørsted Institute in the Department of Computer Science, University of Copenhagen, Denmark.

The school is targeted at graduate students, as well as researchers interested in an in-depth introduction to hashing.

Registration is closed as of Thursday July 2nd 2014. If you still want to register, please contact Sarah Vang Nøhr ASAP, and we will try to find an open spot.

MINI-WORKSHOP ON HASHING JULY 18

In continuation of the Hashing Summer School July 14-17, we will have a mini-workshop on Hasing on July 18 with contributed talks / tutorials. In particular it will include a 1.5 hour tutorial on the use of hashing in Machine Learning by Ping Li (Rutgers U).
