years!)
News!
Today I just updated the Home
Improvement Archive link as well as my email
address.
Three years ago, on June 21, 1999, the last episode of Home Improvement
(episode 201) was
broadcast in Denmark. It seems to be the final episode in the danish run.
That's why I'd like to say my final thanks to Home Improvement for 8
hilarious years. Home Improvement grew to be my personal favorite on TV
during its first three seasons and, as opposed to so many other shows,
the show were alive during its final seasons. Although the number of
"dramatic" shows increased drastically during the last seasons, the show
still used its humor to deal with the issues and did not end up as a
sitcom/drama series. Thanks for that.
I know for a fact that Home Improvement will live on although there won't
be any new episodes. Reruns will keep viewers glued to their tv screens,
and the English language is deeply affected by the show. Who do not
remember:
- More power!
- I don't think so Tim.
- Oh, man!
- Back the <put vehicle here> up!
And don't forget the grunts, the snake breaths, the winning hum.
Thanks for all that.
Your true fan,
Jan Nielsen
Welcome to the Home Improvement Archive. As you may have observed, these pages
haven't been updated in almost half a year. I feel that I don't have the time or
energy to do it any more. Duncan Taylor
has kindly decided to take over the
Archive and Episode Guide.
You can find the new Home Improvement Archive (with episode guide) at:
http://www.hiarchive.co.uk/
Please note the new address!
Here's a few facts about the Home Improvement Archive:
- Went online in December 1994.
I think it was about then, judging from mails from that time. Actually, a very old version of the
"Home Improvement
Home Page" (that was the title of the Archive back then) is available from the
Tardis
TV Archive from March 1995.
- Was one of the first Web pages about Home Improvement.
I'd like to think of it as being the first. Okay, people will probably disagree with me about this, but at the time I published
the first "Home Improvement Home Page", the search engines weren't able to find any
other HI related pages. Shortly after, I found "Matthijs van Doorn's Home Improvement Page"
(doesn't exist any more) and Mike Cisar's
Home Improvement Cyberfans.
- Has had about 60000 hits since February, 1996.
Until June, when I stopped maintaining the pages, I had about
100 hits per day.
I hope everybody has enjoyed the Archive and the Episode Guide. Thanks to Duncan
Taylor, they both live on in cyberspace.
Please send me
any comments and nice words. I haven't really ever heard people's real opinion about
the site, and this is your last chance!
Enjoy,
Jan Nielsen
P.S. Thanks to Steve Hill for encouraging me to make the Archive, episode guide and
transcripts. Without you, The Home Improvement Archive probably wouldn't have been.
