Benny Kjær Nielsen

Welcome to my homepage. I hope you can find something useful here - at least a link to somewhere more interesting. On this page you can find a short description of who I am and you can find descriptions of (and links to) various projects I have been involved with. At the bottom of the page you can find a collection of links that I often need.

Please be aware that the contents of this page is not solely related to the educational institution DIKU. It is simply my personal homepage.

Who am I?

As the title implies my name is Benny Kjær Nielsen and I am studying computer science at the Computer Science Department at the University of Copenhagen (DIKU). I have also studied mathematics which is my minor degree. I am mainly interested in subjects related to algorithms eg. computational geometry and combinatorial optimization.

I am currently working as a research programmer in the Algorithmics and Optimization Group at DIKU.

I was born on the 17th of April 1975 and I live in Copenhagen, Denmark. I've had 3 computers since 1984. These are a Commodore 64, an Amiga 500 and currently an Amiga 4000.

Projects - past and present

Fortunes sweepline algorithm for Voronoi diagrams

In the spring 2000 I followed a course about computational geometry. As a small project in this course a friend and I made a visual implementation of an algorithm which for a set of points calculates the Voronoi diagram.

Toolbar.mcc and Infotext.mcc

On the Amiga I have authored a couple of custom classes for MUI (Magic User Interface). I do no longer develop these classes and if you follow the link you can find both the latest versions and the source code.

TUMULT

A lot of people have created classes for MUI on the Amiga and sometimes they can be quite hard to find. TUMULT is an acronym for "The unofficial MUI custom class list" and its main purpose is to help Amiga users find the classes they need.
