Press release: Wallviz - Large visualisations for better data management
Key policy and business decisions are increasingly informed by analysis of massive data collections. However, our ability to support humans in analyzing such data is poor. The project Wallviz will use highly interactive, wall-sized visualizations to help decision makers handle massive collections of data.
The project, which will run over the next 3½ years has received a 14 M.DKK grant from the Danish Strategic Research Council. The scientific partners are the Departments of Computer Science at University of Copenhagen (DIKU) and Aarhus University. Contributing case parters are: The Danish Ministry of Interior and Health as well as two commercial partners: Microsoft and Autodesk, who have contributed financially with 10 M.DKK.

Many private and public organisations suffer from information overload and lack of proper systems and methods to control and co-ordinate data collections.
The Wallviz project will provide for better decision making, i.a. by improving database techniques to provide fast responses to ad-hoc user queries and by using highly interactive wall-sized visualizations that allow hitherto unseen fast-paced interactive and collaborative exploration of massive data collections.
