Brian Vinter appointed to scientific panel for Danish research infrastructure

Professor Brian Vinter, head of the eScience Steering Committee and the eScience Center, has been appointed by the Minister of Science as member of the scientific panel for eScience in relation to the compilation of a Danish roadmap for research infrastructure Background.

The Government has sat aside DKK 120 millions both in 2011 and 2012 for an Infrastructure Pool II. In total, six scientific panels have been appointed that will discuss the way forward for Danish research and make roadmaps for the research-related infrastructure in a given field. Each panel will consist of about seven members.

The six scientific panels will cover:

  • Materials- and nanotechnology; including characterization tools such as microscopy-, synchrotron-, laser- and neutron scattering facilities and advanced laboratory facilities etc.
  • Biotech, Health and Life Science; including advanced laboratories and processing facilities, biobanks and facilities for processing and analyzing trial data etc.
  • Physics and Universe; including telescopes, accelerators, equipment for data collection and - processing etc.
  • Energy, Climate and Environment; including modeling tools, simulation facilities, biobanks, databases and data collection, research- and field stations and marine research ships etc.
  • The Humanities and Social Sciences; including databases and data collection, files, archives and analytical tools etc.
  • eScience; including computation- and data storing facilities, IT tools and grid etc.
