Julia Lawall's Coccinelle project was referred to in in the Linux Weekly News: http://lwn.net/Articles/315686/
The main achievement of the project is a patch-like (ie code-like) language for specifying searches and transformations in C code. Read more on the Coccinelle project's web page.The project is a collaboration between Julia Lawall at DIKU and Gilles Muller at the Ecole des Mines de Nantes. It is sponsored in Denmark by the FTP and in France by the ANR.
